Branching rules: actions as intermediate nodes

It would be helpful to apply actions earlier in branching workflows. For example, I may want to apply a tag to an email or notify specific people before the workflow branches, since those steps should happen regardless of which path is taken, such as assigning the item to a specific person based on the sender’s email address.
